Headaches can cause a high burden of disease and seriously impair daily functioning. There are several disorders that can cause headaches.

Migraine is a headache accompanied by many other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, intolerance to light and sound, aura formation, flashes of light and loss of vision. With muscle tension headaches, the headache is experienced as a pressing sensation around the head. Sometimes, it is accompanied by pain in the neck and shoulders. Both types can be treated with medication. However, in a proportion of people, medication does not help sufficiently.

The exact cause of these types of headaches is not yet clear. The tightening of muscles in the face possibly plays a role. This could explain why literature has shown that botox (botulinum toxin) can help in the treatment of these forms of headaches, as botox is essentially a muscle relaxant. After treatment, people report that symptoms last less, occur less frequently and/or are experienced as less severe. This is a solution for people for whom medication does not help sufficiently or for people who cannot or do not want to take medication.

Sweating is a normal function of the body to remove heat so that the body remains at a normal temperature. Although it is a normal function, it may bother a person. This is often seen in people who perspire excessively, also known as hyperhydrosis. A person may suffer from the effects of excessive sweating, such as the smell and sweat patches.

There are several treatments available for hyperhydrosis. Creams can be applied and pills swallowed. One can also opt for treatment with botox (botulinum toxin). The botulinum toxin blocks the nerves to the sweat glands. As a result, they are temporarily unable to produce any sweat. The effect of the treatment is maximal within 2 weeks after the treatment and lasts for 4 to 6 months after the first treatment. After this, the botulinum toxin wears off. If someone takes a follow-up treatment at that time, the effect lasts longer, namely 6 to 12 months.

Teeth grinding (bruxism) is an annoying condition that can cause a lot of trouble. It occurs mainly at night while sleeping. Complaints that can arise are insomnia, pain or wear and tear on the teeth.

Botox (botulinum toxin) can be used to treat the chewing muscle, which is responsible for teeth grinding. This will make the muscle less powerful and the teeth grinding will disappear.
